For years, Broadway producers have been chasing a younger, more diverse audience than the relatively homogeneous crowd that usually fills the orchestra seats. Two new shows take a stab at it: "In the Heights" uses hip-hop and salsa to animate its family-friendly tale about the residents of a Latino neighborhood; "Passing Strange" is the tale of a Los Angeles-based alt-rocker named Stew. Director/actor/producer Norman Lloyd started in vaudeville, played tennis with Charlie Chaplin, and more recently has worked with Cameron Diaz. "Who is Norman Lloyd?" is a new documentary directed by Matthew Sussman. "Who is Norman Lloyd?" is playing at Film Forum, November 23 - 29. The Academy Award-nominated actress and the four-time Tony-winning playwright are back on Broadway this season with a revival of his 1975 hit “The Ritz,” a farce about a garbage man who hides out from a murderous mobster in the last place he'd look: a gay bathhouse.
